Quartz & Granite Countertops

At Indisco Kitchens & Baths, we love helping our clients select the right countertop for their new kitchen or bathroom.

Natural and unique, quartz and granite add a personalized ambiance to any setting. Both quartz and granite are beautiful and ideal for high-traffic kitchens. Their durability promises a long-term ROI and increases the value of any home. The material requires minimal maintenance and, despite its reputation as a luxury, it's not as costly as you might think.

Why We Love Quartz and Granite Countertops

Quartz and granite countertops enhance many southern and coastal Maine homes with timelessness and elegance. The beauty of stone countertops is unparalleled while resistant to staining, etching, and scorching.

One-of-a-Kind Material

Quartz and granite's strength comes from being manufactured from natural rock. However, while granite is removed from quarries before slicing and cutting to fit in the kitchen, quartz is made up of natural stone and other materials. For instance, each granite slab has unique characteristics with swirls, flecks, and fissures. The slabs have gorgeous sets of shiny iron bits. Quartz slabs possess different characteristics than granite. These varying traits make any piece of quartz or granite unique for each kitchen.

Benefits of Quartz and Granite

Enhances Home Value - If you sell or rent a home, quartz or granite countertops entice a positive response from buyers or renters.

Durability - Granite's resistance to damage is lauded. Even though granite is heat resistant, we recommend using a trivet under hot pans for both granite and quartz surfaces.

Sustainability - As a natural stone, quartz and granite use minimal processing and are thus eco-friendly.

Range of Colors - One of granite's unique characteristics is its surprising color variation. Granite can be black, white, beige, or brown with variations of shades in the veins and speckles. There can be pinks, greens, blues, or reds in unexpected and striking patterns. Quartz comes in a variety of colors and features, such as solid, vein, wave, granular, and waterstone.

Family Friendly - Both quartz and granite are ideal for homes with kids and animals. Climbing cats and their claws won't be a problem. You don't have to worry about children damaging surfaces.

Easy to Clean/storng> - With proper sealing, granite is easy to clean. You can wipe it with a practical, soft cloth, water, and mild soap. Quartz counters do not require sealing.

Alternatives to Quartz and Granite Countertops

Soapstone - Like quartz and granite, soapstone is a natural material, not manufactured. Soapstone ranges in shade from light gray to charcoal gray with green tinting and subtle veining. Soapstone resists staining and isn’t damaged by hot pans. It is not sealed but does require oiling.

Solid Surface/Laminate - >Manufactured countertops, such as Corian and Formica, which can look like natural stone, solid colors or other design, are non-porous. These surfaces are generally less expensive than stone slabs but can be damaged by heat and are not scratch resistant.

Countertop Costs

Pricing for countertops can fluctuate, depending on materials and the overall kitchen or bath design. Quartz and granite can be an affordable option, considering their return on investment. Soapstone and manufactured countertops are available to meet specific client requirements and budgets.
